Leaving Tokyo for Kyoto

10/26. I did not get to say goodbye to the group. I have already followed up with an email. My bags are heavy but we got them to the station, and took the high-speed train. This is not the first class, but the trains are beautiful. We did get bento boxes to eat on the train. We could not see Mount Fuji because of high fog or low clouds. Kyoto station was just as fancy as Tokyo. It is much different in my memories. We rode out to Uji, about 10 miles. Everything is 5 to 8 story buildings, mostly apartments. I am settled in Keijiro's home. He has been here 15 years. His wife died last year. Kojiro told me to light incense and pray for his wife at the small Bhudist shrine that everyone. Keijiro is 75, and looks older. His son Ryohei is a batchelor, Keijiro cooks for himself, the home is spare and neat, The garden is beautiful. There is one small toilet in the house. The bath, furo, is behind the kitchen, laundry, area. You wash yourself sitting on a stool with the drain in the floor, and soak in the tub. We talk about going to see a local shrine, But drive around the front and go on. I guess it's a quick drive through. We did go to a sake museum. I have explained that I cannot drink. We went for dinner at the all you can eat sushi and shabu shabu place. I took pictures for James. I am sleeping on the floor. I made up my futon. The home is a little cold but my covers are snuggly.
