Tsukiji Fish Market

We had a wonderful day even though there was light rain. We went to  The Tokyo wholesale fish market. Neither of us had ever been there before. It is the size of several football fields. Thousands of tons of fish are sold every day, up to 400 different kinds. We got there at the end of their day,  as they were cleaning up. Huge tunas are $10,000 and up. People are friendly and there are some samples, but it really is the bustle and commerce that is the experience. The fish are beautiful. We walked through the adjoining vegetable market.  We avoided the local tourist oriented restaurants, and walked into the neighborhood towards the Ginza. We had a wonderful meal of Maguro sashimi. Later on the Ginza  I was asked questions and filmed by a camera crew. They enjoyed having a silly American who could speak broken Japanese. I had a fun meal with Kojiro at a local restaurant that specialized in strange fun things. My sleep cycle has not completely gotten over jetlagged.
